## Subscription & Billing

    **Basic (Free)** — Voice-to-text notes up to 5 minutes, Apple Notes and Shortcuts integrations.

    **Plus ($6.99/mo or $39.99/yr)** — 30-minute recordings, custom AI instructions, Notion, Obsidian, Zapier integrations, and priority support.

    All prices are in USD. Regional pricing may vary based on App Store tiers.

  <Accordion title="How do I restore my purchases?">
    1. Open Cleft and go to the upgrade screen
    2. Tap **Restore Purchase** at the bottom
    3. Wait for confirmation

    This fixes most issues like "Plus features disappeared" or "Lost access after reinstall."

  <Accordion title="Can I share my Plus subscription with family?">
    Yes — Cleft supports Apple Family Sharing. Subscribe to Plus, and up to 6 family members get full access automatically.

    1. Enable Family Sharing in your Apple ID settings
    2. Subscribe to Cleft Plus (annual plan recommended)
    3. Family members download Cleft and sign in with their Apple ID

    Available for App Store subscriptions after December 2024.

  <Accordion title="Do you offer student discounts?">
    Yes — email [students@cleftnotes.com](mailto:students@cleftnotes.com) for 50% off Cleft Plus with valid student verification.

  <Accordion title="What happens if I downgrade from Plus?">
    Your existing notes stay accessible. You can still view and edit everything, but Plus features (longer recordings, custom instructions, premium integrations) will be limited for new notes.

  <Accordion title="How do I manage my subscription?">
    **iPhone / iPad:** Settings app → your Apple ID → Subscriptions → Cleft

    **Mac:** App Store → click your name → View Information → Manage Subscriptions

    **In Cleft:** Settings → Account → Manage Subscription

## Troubleshooting

  <Accordion title="App crashing or won't open">
    Try in order:

    1. Force close and reopen
    2. Restart your device
    3. Check for app updates
    4. Reinstall (your notes are safe — they sync back when you sign in)

  <Accordion title="Can't record or transcribe">
    1. Check microphone permissions in your device settings
    2. Verify internet connection (needed for AI processing, not transcription)
    3. Try a short test recording
    4. Make sure you're within time limits (5 min free, 30 min Plus)

  <Accordion title="Notes not syncing between devices">
    **Quick fix:** [Refresh Cleft](/user-guides/refresh) — pull down on iPhone/iPad, or press `⌘R` on Mac.

    Still not syncing? Check that you're signed in with the same email on both devices (Settings → Account).

  <Accordion title="App feels slow">
    1. Refresh the app (`⌘R` on Mac, pull down on iPhone/iPad)
    2. Close and reopen
    3. Update to the latest version
    4. Restart your device

  <Accordion title="Can't access my account">
    Cleft uses email verification — no password needed.

    1. Enter your email on the sign-in screen
    2. Check your inbox for a verification code
    3. Enter the code to sign in

    **Code not arriving?** Check your spam folder. Try again with the correct email address. If you're still stuck, email [hello@cleftnotes.com](mailto:hello@cleftnotes.com).

## Privacy & Data

  <Accordion title="How secure are my notes?">
    * **Transcription is local** — audio is processed on your device using Whisper. No audio leaves your device.
    * **Text processing** — only the transcribed text is sent to AI for formatting. Never your audio.
    * **Data encrypted at rest** — your stored notes are encrypted on our servers.

  <Accordion title="What happens to my audio recordings?">
    Audio saves temporarily on your device for transcription, then auto-deletes 1 hour after upload. You can [download the original audio](/user-guides/exporting-notes#download-original-audio) before it's removed.

  <Accordion title="Can I export or delete my data?">
    **Export:** Select notes and use Copy or Share to export as Markdown, plain text, or RTF. See [exporting notes](/user-guides/exporting-notes) for all options.

    **Delete:** Individual notes via swipe, bulk via multi-select, or full account deletion via Settings → Account → Delete Account.
