Organize and categorize your notes with tags

Tags in Cleft are designed to streamline your note-taking process and integrate seamlessly with your broader productivity workflow. Unlike traditional note-taking apps, Cleft limits you to three tags per note, focusing on efficient capture and easy exporting or automating sending Cleft notes to your preferred "second brain" system e.g. Apple Notes, Obsidian, Notion, etc.
Open a note you want to tag.
Look for the tag input field near the top of the note.
Start typing a tag name. Cleft will suggest existing tags as you type.
Select an existing tag or create a new one by typing the full name and pressing Enter.
Add up to three tags per note.
Use tags to categorize notes for easy export to other tools.
Create tags that align with projects or categories in your main productivity system.
Utilize tags as triggers for automation with Zapier (see our Zapier integration guide).
To quickly find notes before exporting or processing:
Use the filter or search option in the main notes list.
Type "#" followed by your tag name to search for specific tags.
Focus on broad categories that facilitate easy transfer to your main system.
Use tags to indicate the next action or destination for each note.
Consider using tags like #to-process, #for-project-x, or #add-to-database.
Remove a tag by clicking the "x" next to the tag name in the note's tag field.
Regularly review and update your tags to maintain an efficient capture system.
Maximum of three tags per note to encourage focused, actionable categorization.
Tag names are case-sensitive (#Work and #work are different tags).
Cleft is designed for efficient capture, not as a replacement for comprehensive note management systems.
By using tags strategically in Cleft, you can create a streamlined capture process that integrates smoothly with your existing productivity tools and workflows.
