Download original audio

Download the original audio from your notes

Cleft allows you to download the original audio recordings of your notes. This feature is useful when you want to keep a backup of your voice notes or use the audio in other applications.

How to download original audio

  1. Open the note containing the audio you want to download.

  2. Look for the download or export option, usually represented by a download icon or located in the note's menu.

  3. Click or tap the download option.

  4. Choose a location on your device to save the audio file.

Supported audio formats

The downloaded audio will be in the original format it was recorded in, typically:

  • iOS/iPadOS: M4A format

  • macOS: M4A format

Use cases for downloading original audio

  • Create backups of important voice notes

  • Use the audio in other applications or editing software

  • Share the original recording with others who don't use Cleft

Tips for managing downloaded audio

  • Organize downloaded audio files in a dedicated folder on your device

  • Use meaningful file names to easily identify the content of each audio file

  • Consider using cloud storage services to sync your downloaded audio across devices

Downloading the original audio does not affect the note in Cleft. You can always access the audio within the app as long as the note exists.

Privacy considerations

  • Be mindful of privacy when sharing downloaded audio files, as they may contain sensitive information

  • If you're using shared devices, ensure you're storing the audio files in a secure location

By providing access to the original audio, Cleft gives you more flexibility in how you use and manage your voice notes outside of the app.
