Customize basic settings for your Cleft experience
Last updated
General Settings in Cleft allow you to customize your app experience across different devices. These settings help you tailor the app to your preferences and workflow.
On iOS and iPadOS:
Open the Cleft app
Tap on the settings icon (gear symbol)
Select "General"
On macOS:
Open the Cleft app
Click on "Cleft" in the top menu bar
Select "Preferences" or press ⌘ + ,
Click on "General" in the sidebar
Choose whether Cleft should automatically start when you log in to your device
Useful for quick access to your notes as soon as your computer boots up
Select your preferred app appearance:
Light: Bright interface for well-lit environments
Dark: Easier on the eyes in low-light conditions
Match system: Automatically adjusts based on your device's settings
Choose your preferred language for transcription
Multi-lingual users can select "auto-detect" for automatic language switching
When using auto-detect, the output language is based on the language you start speaking in.
Choose your preferred input device (microphone)
Select your preferred output device for playback
Configure automatic audio behavior when recording starts
Automatically copy note information after creating, appending or updating a note. Available options include:
Copy the note link
Copy the note in markdown format
Copy the note in plaintext format
Copy both the link and markdown
Copy a password-protected link
Note: This is a Plus feature but is included in the free trial.
Time-saver: Streamline your workflow across all your devices
Versatile use: Quickly share notes or add them to other apps
Consistent experience across all devices
Be cautious when using auto-copy with sensitive information, as the copied content will be available to any app you switch to immediately after creating a note.
Experiment with different themes for optimal visibility
Enable "Login at startup" for quick access if you use Cleft frequently
For multi-lingual users, "auto-detect" can save time switching between languages
Configure auto-copy to match your typical workflow needs
Remember to save your changes after adjusting settings. Some changes may require restarting the app to take effect.
By customizing your General Settings, you can ensure that Cleft fits seamlessly into your workflow and provides the best possible note-taking experience across all your devices.
