Accessing Settings

Tap the gear icon in the top-right corner of the notes list.

iOS / iPadOS Settings

On iPhone and iPad, settings are organized into six sections:
  • Appearance: Light, Dark, or System theme
  • Language: Transcription language (55+ supported, or Auto-Detect)
  • Date Format: Choose how dates appear throughout the app
  • Custom Instructions: Tell Cleft how to format your notes (Plus)
  • Auto-Copy: Automatically copy new notes to clipboard (Plus)
Custom instructions have a 500-character limit. Be specific about formatting preferences.
  • Notion: Sync notes to your Notion workspace (Plus)
  • Zapier: Connect to 8,000+ apps via automation (Plus)
  • Obsidian: Export notes as Markdown files (Plus)
  • API Keys: Manage developer access
  • What’s Included: View your plan features
  • Manage Subscription: Upgrade or manage billing
  • Email: Update your account email
  • Display Name: Change your name
  • Log Out: Sign out of Cleft
  • Delete Account: Permanently remove your account and data
  • Help & Support: Get assistance
  • Send Feedback: Share ideas or report issues
  • Privacy Policy: View our privacy commitment
  • About: App version and legal information

macOS Settings

On Mac, settings are organized into five tabs. Navigate between them with ⌘1 through ⌘5.
Cleft macOS General settings — theme, language, date format, audio devices
  • Theme: Light, Dark, or Match System
  • Launch at Startup: Start Cleft when your Mac starts
  • Language: Transcription language (Auto-Detect or 55+ languages)
  • Date Format: Choose how dates appear throughout the app
  • Time Format: 12-hour or 24-hour clock
  • Preflight Mode: Download notes for offline reading
  • Input Device: Select your microphone
  • Output Device: Select audio output for playback
Cleft macOS Integrations settings — Zapier, Notion, and local sync folder
  • Zapier: Connect to 8,000+ apps via automation (Plus)
  • Notion: Sync notes to your Notion workspace (Plus)
  • Local Sync Folder: Auto-export notes as .md files to Obsidian, Bear, Logseq, or any folder (Plus)
Cleft macOS Style settings — output style instructions and copy format
  • Output Style: Tell Cleft how to format your notes (Plus, 500 characters)
  • Copy Format: Choose Plaintext or Markdown for auto-copy and ⌘C
  • Cleft Signature: Add “Scribed by Cleft” to copied notes
Cleft macOS Account settings — plan, subscription, and account actions
  • Account: Your email address
  • Plan: Current subscription tier
  • Manage Subscription: Upgrade or manage billing
  • Log Out of Cleft: Sign out (notes stay safe in the cloud)
  • Delete Account: Permanently remove your account and all data
